A note on mental health in prepping

As we saw in the Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, the social aspect of prepping is an important one.
Community
Community is an important factor in emotional well-being and mental health. Seek people out who align with your values and interest. Look for online communities. I like reddit for that purpose. Also make sure you have a physical community of people. In a pinch, you won't be able to rely on internet friends.
Professionals
I also suggest having at least 2 mental health professionals (by which I mean psychiatrists, psychologists and licensed therapists), as well as some mental health adjacent professionals (life/grief/... coaches, experience experts, mental health nurses, ...) in your group of people you can reach out to.
Books and Resources
I am broadening my horizons by taking a Journal Therapy Coach course (you can sign up here*), but you can also read books, purchase worksheets and -books, do other courses, and sign up for workshops.
I recommend to have books on trauma, anxiety and mood disorders and grief, at the very least. If mental health problems run in your family, stock up and read as much as you can about these disorders. It will not only help you if you end up getting that problem, it will also make you understand those family members more.
I will be making a list with books and their designated reviews here. I hope to be able to regularly update them.
