Second things second: Tuesday Prepping.

Monthly Calendar

Tuesday prepping. What does that even mean?

It's the counterpart to Doomsday prepping. Doomsday prepping means you prep for war, civil unrest and other severely catastrophic events. Now Tuesday prepping, which I will mostly focus on on this blog, is the everyday events. From water and electricity outages, to job loss, disability and common natural

disasters where you live.

What does that mean for me?

The things I'm most concerned about, are water and electricity outages, flooding, and loss of income. Where I live, those are the most common 'emergency' situations. That's what I'll mainly be prepping for.

Why I'll look at stockpiling

I want to look at the basics and stockpile for a long time. Why? The things I will be stockpiling will last for years, and if I use the rotating pantry method or FIFO (first in, first out), nothing won't be used up.

What I'll be stockpiling

You may have gathered from my previous post that I'll mainly focus on water, food and medical supplies. This is because I need those things most often, and surviving without will make continuing to live very hard. I will go in more detail in my next posts.

The rotating pantry method (FIFO)

Rotating your pantry, by which I mean often switching out long-term storage to short-term storage and then refilling the long-term storage, is a great way to make sure nothing gets wasted. And by long-term prepping food, water, and medical supplies, you will be sure you have everything on hand for a while.

The threat matrix

If you want to decide for yourself which of the possible threats take priority, then you can make use of the threat matrix. This will help you prioritize High and low probability events, and lethal or non-lethal ones.

My threat matrix

I inserted a picture of my threat matrix. You can see that my low probability-trivial consequence quarter is empty. I couldn't come up with anything. Is that because it's not really something I'm concerning myself with right now, or are there just not as many threats? I don't know.

You can see that my high probability-trivial consequence quarter is most filled. Look at the image to see what exactly it is filled with.

It's also very important to update your threat matrix every now and then. Threats and probability change pretty fast. Share your own threat matrix below and tell me where you're from.

You're Tuesday prepping when you focus on the high probability half of your matrix.
